You Can Do Anything You Put Your Mind To

Navigating This Space - You Can Do Anything You Put Your Mind To

“You can do anything you put your mind to”

Growing up hearing this wonderful phrase never meant much to me as a child but, as I’ve grown and explored the world, I can truly say— without a doubt —that you can do anything you put your mind to.

Believing in yourself is the first step to doing what you want. If you doubt your abilities, you create an atmosphere of fear where you believe you’re not good enough which doesn’t benefit you in the long run. Self-acceptance opens doors you never knew existed.

Can you really do anything you put your mind to?

Think about it, what have you done in your life that you would never have imagined in a million years when you were a child?

For me, I’ve traveled to a lot of countries— some of them that  I didn’t know existed before I went there. If you had told me that as a young girl growing up in the hills of Jamaica, surrounded by mango trees and coconut trees, that I would one day live in a place called Japan and travel to so many countries that I couldn’t use my hands to keep track anymore, I’d have flat out told you to stop lying.

I used to daydream about what was happening on all the planes that were flying above in the sky but never once did I ever think I’d be on one of them going from place to place.

I’m sharing this story with you because at one point during those daydreaming times, I wished I was on one of those planes going to a new foreign land, and without trying too hard I ended up living a life where being in a foreign country became very normal and exciting to me.

Once you have something that you truly would like to do, you can do it! Nothing and no one can stop you if you are unwavering in your plans.

Don’t settle for being average

Nothing about you spells average. Don’t settle for what society tells you you must do to be happy. You know yourself and you know what makes you happy because you, yes you, hold the keys to your happiness.

If your intentions are to be the best ballet dancer, do it! Create a morning routine that puts that dream at the forefront of your mind. Practice, practice, and practice some more; learn from the best and never give up. You create the future you want because you can do anything you put your mind to.

Dream Big but stay realistic

Just because you can do anything you put your mind to doesn’t mean you should. Learn to choose what you truly love and go full force with those dreams. Be realistic: you can’t fly if you decide to do a base jump without the proper gear. Make sure to use all the correct tools for all the routes you choose to take. If you’d like to fly, get a jumpsuit that makes it feels like you’re literally flying but of course take the necessary precautions to learn the ins and outs of the sport before you decide to jump head-first without a guide.

Trust your gut feeling

If something doesn’t feel right then change route immediately. Don’t ignore your intuition because you really want to do something. If you haven’t learned it yet, take this advice and write it down: when you ignore your instincts, things go wrong.

The universe is always guiding you to your true path and it will send signals so you can choose the correct path when you’re starting to go the wrong way. Listen to your gut feeling and any other physical indicators that you get when you feel that something is wrong. If it doesn’t feel right today, put it off till the next day.

Believe in yourself

You are capable of extraordinary things, it all starts with you believing that you can do it.

Take it from this dreamer, keep on dreaming because your dreams will change your life!
