– Every week, I will call one friend and have a conversation for at least 30 minutes.
– Twice a month, I will go out with friends to do an activity.
– Once every two or three months, I will throw a dinner party.
From there, you can start creating a plan by deciding what action steps you need to take in order to achieve the goals you’ve just set.
For the previous example, several possible action steps could be:
– Create a list of friends that I need to call and set a date and time to execute that call. Write it in your journal and calendar as “Call this friend every Tuesday at 7 p.m.”
– Reflect on conversations I’ve had with friends and identify the common topics we discussed, so I can improve in those areas and develop my communication skills.
– Make a list of possible activities that my friends and I could do together. Then look for free or inexpensive events in a central location online.
– Pick a date for the dinner party and start creating invitations. During the weekly calls, ask for suggestions and restrictions from friends about what they would like to eat.
Once you’ve created a plan, it’s important to maintain it by tracking your progress and making adjustments as needed. This will help keep you accountable and help you grow into the person you want to be.
